Happy Monday, everyone!
I'm starting a new project where I'll be publishing some of my short stories and serialized fiction online!!
“Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them because they were harassed and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest.””
Matthew 9:35-38
“...harassed and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.” Jesus saw. Saw their desolate state. And He had compassion.
This is the wonderful God we serve. The God who sees scattered, worn out, brokenhearted souls.
Dear heart, you are seen.
"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart..." Psalm 34:18
And as I draw immense comfort from these verses, also within them lies my own part to play during my time here on earth. Which is to lift up my hand and say, "Here I am, Lord. Send me into Your harvest to encourage Your people and spread this faith to the nations."
In order to change things up in my writing schedule, I have decided to attempt something new and try out the writing challenge where one writes 100 words for 100 days, except, I am going to throw out the 100 days bit, in case I want to alter things again later. So I just have the goal of writing 100 words per day.
Okay, so this one of the most well-written books I've read in a long time! It may have been the fact that I listened to the audio book for this one, but the descriptions and dialogue were SO immersive! And Bastiaan is officially my favorite of Nadine Brandes' boy love interests for her main characters!
Favorite line:
"Despereaux Tilling had no idea he was small. He wasn't just small in human terms. He was small, even for a mouse. But to tell you the truth, he didn't even notice. In fact, in his own mind, Despereaux was a giant."
This
is one of my favorite childhood movies and I recently watched it again
after many years and I thought I'd share it with all of you.
First off, I love Despereaux! I love his innate fearlessness and confidence, his love of stories and desire to be "a gentleman." And I love that by his simple goodness he is a ray of sunshine in darkness to some, like Princess Pea, and a source of inspiration to greatness for others, like Roscuro. I also find him to be incredibly cute!
Three out of five stars.
(Spoilers below!)
Characters: While I found no difficulty in relating to or feeling for the main character, Josephine, I do feel that there was something missing from her character so that she was not as flushed out and as real as I would have wanted her to be. Because, besides her gift of numbers, the only thing I really think of when I think of Josephine is how those she interacts with affect her. From being affected by her sister's jealousy to the exploitation of others, and eventually to the love and friendship of Kai. I felt her extreme intelligence was the only thing that was her own and that made up her personality, and I would've liked her to have had something else along with that. Some dream, goal, personality trait, or habit, apart from the others in the story and apart from reacting to the others in the story. In contrast, the rest of the characters I felt did have enough to be their own person apart from reacting to what others were doing.
