Too Far Gone by Hidden Citizens ft. Svrcina

 

 

Favorite Lyrics:

"Is it out of our hands / Do we still have a chance"

    Essentially, some sort of catastrophic problem or event confronts your characters, and this song is the wondering in that moment of brokenness, the question of "is this the thing that ends us?" 

    Perhaps it's the future of a relationship that's swimming in uncertainty. Or wondering if finding normalcy in life is possible. Maybe it's a character struggling with shame, almost convinced there's no road back. Whatever the thing, this song is the dark moment of questioning everything.      

    Because this is rather a depressing piece of art, I hope you bring your characters out of this sadness soon, that they have a happy ending, and that the ultimate answer to this song's question is a soaring, hope-filled "yes"! 😉

 

Elements of the song I like:

•  This is such a tell, not show song. The lyrics are bold, screaming the question the writer desperately wants to know. There's no flowery language. It makes me feel as if the desire to know the answer throws out all wishes to make the song anything more than about the question, as if the urgency to know outweighs beauty. (not that the lyrics aren't beautiful😉)

• The first chorus. I love how it's just her voice and a piano.(There's another sound than just those two in the first chorus, but not sure what it might be called.)

• The bridge. I love how I can hear a choir vocalizing underneath her singing!

  • The second chorus! With the high point with the lyrics I said were my favorite, and the drums that are added then, too! 
  • The choir hauntingly ending the song!
